29 Jun 2006 - The African evening at Archives

The smell of food coming from the back room was more than enough to draw the crowds into Teesside Archives to see the conclusion of The African Living History & Archive Champions project on Thursday 29th June 2006. This project, co-ordinated by Hilaire Agnama in collaboration with Teesside Archives, the Karibu Foundation and M.L.A. North East, had over the past 18 months collected the oral testimonies of individuals describing their experiences of moving to a new community in the North East of England

After a fantastic meal of traditional African food, the audience of more that 50 people were shown extracts from this project, including the memories of our very own Jim Nicholson! To conclude the evening the audience enjoyed the drumming of the Acane Group.

As part of this presentation a copy of the DVD produced was donated to the archive and is now available to view.
