How many old documents finish up in the skip? Someone was about to ditch "some old stuff" when he remembered that a friend of a friend was interested in that kind of thing. The friend of a friend was Jim Nicholson, and he was indeed interested.
It was thought at first that these documents related to the destruction of the transporter in the event of a German invasion. The target was identified as IDD No.8, and this appears to have been an oil store close to the transporter.
There are various documents, including a small hand-drawn map of Middlesborough (sic), a plan of the oil depot with locations of explosives, and a list of the explosive material. These are shown in the Gallery.
After appropriate repairs, the documents are now safely stored in archival quality sleeves.
